Designed by husband-and-wife duo Emma and Saif Bakir, the collection reflects the brand’s evolving dialogue around identity, transition and emotion, with a renewed focus on warmth, clarity and presence.
If AW25 explored tension and displacement, SS26 finds stillness in movement, a meditation on long summer days where the light lingers, shadows stretch thin, and time itself feels slowed.
The palette sets the tone: faded yellow recalling dried sunflowers and bleached linens, verdant drift suggesting overgrown gardens and olive groves, cream and sand in quiet neutrality, black providing soft structure, and metallic notes in matte gold, oxidized silver and weathered bronze shimmering subtly like sunlight glancing off stone or skin. Textiles are natural, tactile and responsive to motion: light cottons, linen blends, paper-touch silks and softly crinkled surfaces that evoke sun-warmed landscapes.
The silhouettes are relaxed and unforced, with fluid tailoring, soft layers and draped outerwear that feel like shelter rather than armor.
In the looks shown, flowing coats overlap with sleeveless tunics, cropped jackets are paired with loose drawstring trousers, and soft tailoring carries metallic undertones that glow rather than shine.
Deliberately unstructured shirting wraps the body rather than constrains it, and long-line skirts move freely, designed for lightness and adaptability rather than performance.
“With Shifting Light, we wanted to create a collection that feels like a deep exhale, a quiet moment of clarity in a world that’s constantly moving. It’s about softness with intention, and strength that comes from being grounded. These are clothes for when you feel most yourself, unforced, present, and open to possibilities,” says Saif Bakir.
As always, Emma’s intuitive approach to womenswear balances Saif’s menswear foundation, together offering a harmony between form and emotion, tailoring and ease, identity and openness.
This season, garments are not statements but companions: clothing for long days, slow hours, and a clearer state of mind.
Shifting Light reflects CMMN SWDN’s continued commitment to maturity in design, not through excess but through reduction.
Cultural references are distilled into gestures rather than declarations, and every fabric choice is rooted in tactility and movement.
