Elegance competition at the "Vittoriale degli Italiani" from April 27th to 28th. Engines conquering sky-land-water.

A event that celebrates the history of motor racing in the splendid setting of the monumental complex firmly desired by Gabriele d'Annunzio on Lake Garda.

The event will take place from April 27th to 28th in Gardone Riviera, specifically at the complex of the "Vittoriale degli Italiani."

It's the event dedicated to historic motor racing called "Concorso di Eleganza Vittoriale," organized by the association Jurassic Car Club Tatius Nubladus, with the sponsorship of the Tourism Department of the Lombardy Region, the municipalities of Gardone Riviera and Castel D'Ario, ACI and ACI Storico, and with the partnership of the International Motorism Association, The Secret Gate, SARA Assicurazioni, and Unidea Assicurazioni.

The ASSESSOR MAZZALI "CARS THAT ATTRACT VISITORS FOR BEAUTY, INGENUITY, AND COMPETITION".

Barbara Mazzali, Assessor for Tourism, Fashion, and Territorial Marketing of the Lombardy Region, launched the initiative today in a press conference at Palazzo Lombardia.

"Even in the world of motors, there is a touch of beauty, an elegance, which is a mix of technical ingenuity, speed, and industrial design.

Not by chance, vintage car parades have been a tradition of great appeal in Lombardy and Italy for over a century.

But what awaits us with the new motor racing competition is a unique experience, called 'Sky-Land-Water,' referring to the physical spaces 'conquered' by human intelligence.

Reliving history through vintage cars, motorcycles, boats, and airplanes.

All in an exceptional location, the 'Vittoriale' in Gardone Riviera, one of the most visited 'open-air museums' in Italy.

THE MOTORING ELEGANCE COMPETITION.

The competition aligns perfectly with the ultimate goal of the association that organized and promoted it, the Jurassic Car Club Tazio Nuvolari, which for years has been promoting the values of historic motor racing in Italy and around the world. Since 2017, they have been organizing the GMMS (World Historic Motorism Day), a unique event dedicated to historic motor racing in Italy and beyond, now in its seventh edition.

For the competition, which will last two days (April 27th and 28th) and will include a packed schedule of events and unmissable opportunities, the participation of approximately thirty cars, fifteen historic motorcycles, ten aircraft (including seaplanes and airplanes), and ten vintage boats from Italy and Europe is expected.

These can be admired at the Vittoriale starting from Friday, April 26th, the participants' arrival day.

The actual event will begin the next day.

The aircraft will fly over the water in front of the Torre San Marzo dock, under the Vittoriale, before returning to the departure airbase or, for seaplanes, mooring at the dock itself.

This is where the participating vintage boats will also dock.

Vintage cars and motorcycles, on the other hand, can be admired in the dedicated areas of the Vittoriale, set up for the event.

The choice of location was not made randomly but rather fell on the complex of buildings and monuments meticulously designed by the renowned poet Gabriele d'Annunzio.

The J.C.C. has previously collaborated with the Lombardy Region and with the foundation "il Vittoriale degli Italiani" and its president, the historian and writer Prof. Giordano Bruno Guerri.

"Il Vittoriale, in addition," emphasizes the president of the Jurassic Car Club Tatius Nubladus, Giorgio Ungaretti, "among its many cultural roles, also includes being the first hub of historic motor racing in Italy, exhibiting d'Annunzio's ship, cars, as well as the biplane with which the poet-soldier made the famous flight over Vienna."

"The Elegance competition" on April 27th and 28th also celebrates the affinities that united two figures, otherwise so different from each other, like Tazio Nuvolari and Gabriele d'Annunzio.

Two great Italians who were surely united by at least two common denominators: an irrepressible desire for speed and a congenital inclination towards aesthetic elegance and gentility.

Gabriele d'Annunzio received Tazio Nuvolari on April 28th, 1932, and, by a fortunate coincidence, the Concorso d'Eleganza we present here will conclude on April 28th.

That famous meeting has rightly gone down in history because, on that occasion, the great and eclectic poet gave Tazio Nuvolari a gold brooch in the shape of a turtle bearing, on its back, his initials, justifying its award with the famous oxymoron that said: "To the fastest man, the slowest animal."

The turtle, dear to d'Annunzio, became, by his will, likewise a lasting emblem for Tazio Nuvolari.

The shell of the animal, still displayed in the dining room, has been reproduced in scale, cast in bronze, and will constitute the highly coveted trophy that the winning cars of the various classes will be awarded.

As the culmination of the competition and borrowing from the criterion of the "Davis Cup," a very special trophy will be instituted, which will remain on display at the Vittoriale and in which, year after year, the overall winner of the competition will be mentioned.
